About Herman Miller
You probably know Herman Miller for its ergonomic office chairs. But where did the name Herman Miller come from? It was a businessman from West Michigan called Herman Miller who helped his son-in-law, D.J. De Pree, to buy the Michigan Star Furniture Company in 1923. De Pree had been working for the company since he was hired as an office clerk way back in 1909.
By the mid-20th century, Herman Miller was all about 'modern' furniture. They teamed up with some of the biggest names in the business, like George Nelson and Charles and Ray Eames, and the result was some classic pieces that are still iconic today.
